There will soon be a new total beauty salon in Ybor for people who like a little something different about their look and it starts with their hair.

Not only will this new hair care salon be unique in it’s pursuit of every cut and color, but it will also be environmentally friendly for the Earth as well. What this earth-friendly beauty salon does is they sweep up all the hair clippings, packs them away and ships them off to a company called ‘Matter of Trust’ an organization which assembles them (the hairs) into super absorbent mats and supplies them to companies for uses in devastating petroleum spills.

This eco-friendly hair salon has donated approximately 120 pounds of hair to date and if you think about it, that’s a lot of hair clippings because hair does not weigh that much to begin with.

Other things this beauty salon that offers highlights Tampa, Florida does to help conserve energy is to turn off the water when rinsing someone’s hair. There is no need to have the water running while the stylist is shampooing or adding conditioners or colors to a person’s hair. This saves gallons of water each month and reduces the salon’s water bills as well.

Highlighting Tampa also turns off the lights when they are not in a room allowing them to conserve energy and save money at the same time. They are also using environmentally products that are not only good for the environment, but good for the skin and scalp as well.

This doesn’t mean the clients are sitting in the dark with nothing to do while they wait their turn for a new ‘do.’ Clients could wait in the lounge area with complementary fresh coffee or sip wine while checking their e-mail on the high speed wireless Internet access.
