Children’s Birthday Parties Switching to Cookie Cutters; Ditching Cupcakes
Many people are switching to cookies for their children’s parties instead of cupcakes because they are less messy, kids can have more than just one and the birthday child will be able to help in the kitchen with the cookie cutters cutting out the delicious cookies and giving them personality, in addition to them being better and easier than cupcakes.
In addition, most sugar cookie recipes could be tweaked to be a healthier formula without giving up the taste and kids will not even notice the difference. All they will know is that they can eat more than one and have a great time doing it.
Sometimes the birthday party could include the children each using a cookie cutter as part of the birthday party activities, with adult supervision of course. This would be a fun birthday party for girls or boys to participate in and if the host of the party spreads out a large piece of butcher block paper on the table beforehand, clean up will be simple and easy.
Children of all ages will enjoy working with cookie dough and cookie cutters and then being able to decorate the cut out cookies once they have cooled out of the oven. But of course the best part about making cookies is not the decorating or pounding the dough, it’s eating them when they are warm and soft.
When a parent of the birthday boy or girl decides to have a cookie baking party, they should invite several of the parents to help supervise this kitchen activity. One parent could be in charge of the baking, another couple of parents could help with the dough preparation and more could help with the actual cookie cutting process. Then everyone could help with the decorating portion of the party which seems to garner the most fun because children are very creative by nature.
It might be a good idea to borrow several toaster ovens to have them going at the same time in addition to your regular oven to speed up the baking process so the children can move on to the decorating process faster.
